Near real-time data

MUMM has connection with several real-time measuring systems. First of all, its own "ODAS" system, running on board of the RV Belgica, which continuously measures twenty environmental key-parameters of the marine environment when the ship navigates. There is also to mention an (fixed) measurment station on the Scheldt estuary.

The BMDC gained experience in processing these data in near-real time. The ODAS data, for instance, are sent daily by E-Mail to our computer facilities. The dataset is the automatically checked for formal consistency and processed for visualisation. Up-to-date maps are then ready for web-publishing.
