How to get data?

  1. Check contents of the database to see whether the data you are looking for are available.
  2. Register by completing the User Registration Form. A username and password will be mailed to you within a few days.
  3. Login and click on ‘Create new request’ on the page where all your requests are/will be listed.
  4. Specify the usage of data and your selection criteria in the request form.
  5. Also specify the output format : depending on the use of the data, you can select your preferred output format. The record format is the most complete format (no averaging takes place), but most data users need data in a tabular format for processing. Depending on the level of detail you need, you can select Pivot A (taking into account differences in analytical method and laboratory) or Pivot B (grouping different analytical methods for the same parameter). More detailed information is given in description of the query output format.
  6. The results of the search are provided in tab-delimited text files that can easily be imported in f.e. MSExcel. To understand all fields, consult the description of the query output format and the different lists of codes used in the Documentation.
  7. Only public data or data of projects for which access is granted to you (consult data policy), will be returned. To receive other data, you have to make a special request that we will pass on to the data originator.
  8. Data of different types, f.e. parameters measured in water and sediment, can be linked based on the fields ‘Campaign’ and ‘Event’ (and sampling depth).
  9. To view your results online on a map, select the query in ‘your list of request’ and choose ‘spatial analysis’ in the action list. You also need to download and install some software, as explained in the instructions of spatial analysis.
