> SUMARE INTERNAL PROJECT MEETINGS AND WORKSHOPS <

  • First Semestrial SUMARE meeting + Workshop, Sophia-Antipolis (France), 21–22 June 2000. The workshop was held on the first day. Its main objective was to have presentations from several laboratories involved in the SUMARE project. The second day was devoted to the semestrial SUMARE meeting. An action list arising from that meeting is available.
  • Second Semestrial SUMARE meeting + Workshop, 13–14 December 2000. The workshop (entitled Navigation of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) took place at Villefranche-sur-Mer (France) on Dec.13 and consisted of a series of technical presentations, followed by at sea demonstrations of work in progress in the project, with the autonomous underwater vehicle MAUVE. The semestrial SUMARE meeting took place on Dec.14 in Sofia Antipolis.
  • Third Semestrial SUMARE meeting, Ostend, 6 July 2001.
  • Underwater Robotics for Ocean Modelling and Monitoring, 17–18 December 2001 (see program). This meeting organised by the SUMARE project took place in Sofia Antipolis.

> PRESENTATIONS AT INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS <

  • Annual meeting of the ICES working group on the effects of extraction of marine sediments on the marine ecosystem (WGEXT), Gdansk (Poland) 11–14 April 2000, on the kind invitation of the Polish Geological Institute. Presentation of the SUMARE project by HWU/MUMM and I3S. The WGEXT is considered as a possible end-users group of SUMARE. A mission report is available.
  • First Concertation meeting of "IST applications for the protection of the Environment", Brussels (Belgium), 4–5 May 2000. Contributions in Session I, "Coastal maritime and inland waters" and in Parallel Session VII, "Data capture / sensor technologies".

  • Workshop on Marine Robotics and Underwater Acoustics, Hannover (Germany), 21–22 September 2000. Presentation made by I3S.
  • Conference and Showcase on Unmanned Underwater Vehicles, 27–28 September 2000, Southamption Oceanography Centre (UK). Participation of A. Pollentier (MUMM). A report is available to SUMARE partners.
  • Nato Unclassified Mines Counter Measures Development Shop Window, La Spezia (Italy), 18–19 October 2000. Description of the SUMARE project via a presentation on "Extended AUV Operational Ranges Using Active Observation".
