The Tuimelaar MUMM has a rapid intervention boat called the Tuimelaar. This so-called RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) has a fixed keel with a soft, inflatable tube around it.
Fishing inspections are always carried out in conjunction with the competent services at the Flemish Ministry of Agriculture. In addition, samples are taken for research concerning eutrophication and algal blooms. Sometimes bird counts are carried out in the shallow areas along the coast (in conjunction with the Institute for Nature Conservation). Divers can also come on board to take soil samples or examine wrecks. The vessel is equipped to carry out assignments at night and can stay at sea at wind forces of up to 4-5 Bft. |
