Welcome on board
The Belgica, thanks to its specialised equipment
and oceanographic instruments can take all
sorts of samples, from air, from the water, and the sediment and analyse
them in the on-board laboratories. The various
laboratories include the fisheries laboratory,
the wet laboratory for the distribution
and prior treatment of the samples, the chemical
laboratory, the biochemical laboratory
and the microbiological laboratory.
All the laboratories have basic equipment, which the various teams of
scientists that come on board develop, into specialised laboratories fulfilling
their research needs in no time at all. Previously equipped laboratory
containers can also be brought on board for specific research projects.
