Measurements of sediment transport at sea

The dumping of dredging material clearly has effects on the amount of material in suspension at the dumping sites and hence on the transparancy of the water. This transparancy however is very important for the growth of the micro-organisms and thus for the ecosystem. Therefore MUMM measures the amount of material in suspension before, during and after the dumping, by taking water samples, filtering the water and weighing the residu.
