Data access Rules

All the images are available free of charge through the World Wide Web (WWW) interface.

Images derived from MODIS will be accessible without registration. If you want to be informed about availability (near future), updates and reprocessing of data, please enter your contact information.

Images derived from MERIS and SeaWiFS require registration. This is because the data are distributed under strict Conditions of Use and data suppliers require monitoring the use of their data. Please note that registering as a user does not automatically grant you access to restricted datasets. To be granted access to restricted images you have to:

For MERIS:

Only when we have received the completed and signed form and are satisfied that you will comply with the relevant conditions will you get access to the MERIS data products.

For SeaWiFS:

SeaWiFS products based on data more than 5 years old are publicly available provided they are used for research and educational purposes.

If you wish to access SeaWiFS products based on more recent data, you have to:

Once you are on the SeaWiFS Authorized Research User List (this procedure can take one week for new applicants), we will grant you access to the SeaWiFS images.

All images can only be used for research and educational purposes.

If you want to use data for commercial purposes, please contact the data suppliers directly.
